About Us

Star Personnel Limited is a 100% New Zealand owned family business.  

Joanne, with a background in Advertising Sales, entered the Recruitment industry in 1999 and instantly found her niche.   Initially working for a boutique, medium sized Agency,  Joanne left after it was bought out by a multi-national company.  She decided to step out alongside another Recruiting professional in January 2002 and start her own business and recreate the professional, stimulating environment she had enjoyed working in. Originally running the business from home,  Joanne grew the business to a point where it was time to expand the company thereby initiating a move to corporate offices in Manukau in 2004.  Hayden joined the firm in 2004 with a strong background in International Freight Forwarding and Logistics and Sales.

The business has continued to grow steadily throughout the years to the fun and vibrant team that we are today!   It is our intention to continue growing the business in order to provide an outstanding Recruitment Solution service to Candidates and Clients alike by building strong relationships and forging a foundation of trust between the two parties.

Hayden Travers - General Manager/ Consultant

Hayden has over 12 years’ experience in International Freight Forwarding in Operations and Account Executive roles. He has a strong customer service focus and a successful sales background. Hayden moved to Star Personnel in 2004, adapting his knowledge and skills to tackle the Recruitment industry. He has what can only be described as a "unique sense of humour", he is an ex rugby player who has refocused his energies into the Recruitment game, where the injuries are limited to paper cuts.

Joanne Travers - Director/ Senior Recruitment Consultant

Joanne has over 10 years experience in secretarial, PA and Sales positions including advertising so she has a strong understanding of candidates and clients needs in the support staff area. With over twenty years Recruitment experience, Joanne endeavours to provide you with outstanding 'STAR' service. Joanne has a passion and background in the Performing Arts and has been awarded the prestigious office "Academy Award" for several of her STAR performances.

Suman Bali - Senior Recruitment Consultant

Suman specialises in generalist recruitment across New Zealand. Working with exceptional clients within the Professional Services sector, her primary focus is to partner with candidates and clients, using her expertise and market knowledge to ensure that she selects the unique match that makes individuals, companies and industries flourish. Suman’s background has predominantly been in recruiting for administration, reception, accounts, HR, Personal Assistants and operations staff in general.

Afterhours she loves to spend time with her young family, an avid rugby watcher / follower  - she rarely misses a game, and won’t miss a chance to “socialise”.

Janine Godfrey - Senior Recruitment Consultant

Over 30 years technical recruitment experience, Member of NZIFST.   Recruited within food & beverage, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, nutraceuticals and more.  Roles have all been technical, quality, formulations, new product introduction, laboratory, regulatory, engineering and sales and marketing, planning and procurement. Janine has recruited across the entire supply chain with many manufacturing companies.  Having initially trained in the Medical Laboratory sector she then moved into food manufacturing in the laboratory and then quality assurance.  She then spent time as a Sales Representative selling laboratory supplies before she moved into Recruitment.  She prides herself on her ability to quickly assess the unique nature of your business and then screen and present the most suitable staff both for culture fit and technical expertise.

Shaun Neal - Recruitment Consultant

Shaun has always had a keen focus on delivering the highest level of customer service, bringing hard work, energy and creative thinking to the sales/service process for his valued clients. He brings a strong attention to detail, with integrity and honesty brought to all client’s dealings. Shaun grew up in Auckland and embarked on an O.E at the age of 19 to the United States where he enjoyed a 10 year stay in the New York area and worked in the Hospitality Industry and Financial Markets. Shaun is married to a wonderful Brooklyn girl, 4 great kids, and has settled back in New Zealand for the last 15 years. He has worked in a variety of roles including Sales/Digital Marketing – Social Media/Real Estate and the Recruitment Industry – Trades. Shaun is thrilled to now be part of the Team at Star Personnel.

Kimberley Baker - International Freight Forwading Recruitment Consultant                                                            

Kimberley perviously worked in the freight forwarding industry and then moved on to working for an appliance importer for nearly 6 years, handling commercial sales and customer service.  She has been in the recruitment industry for 2 years, successfully recruiting across all roles in freight forwarding, transport, shipping and logistics. Outside of work she likes to cook, she has a keen interest in interior design and you will find her in the gym most days.

Renee Leung Choi - International Freight Forwarding Recruitment Consultant

Renee has recently joined the STAR team and brings with her 11 years’ experience in the International Freight Forwarding and Domestic Transport industries. Starting out straight from High School, Renee began her career as an Import Airfreight Operator with a multi-national company before quickly progressing into the Customer Services team. After 7 years, Renee was promoted into Customer Services Supervisor role where she developed a passion for Learning and Development.  This passion gave pathway to winning the CBAFF Young Achiever Award 2014 and becoming a finalist in AU / NZ Excellence Awards in the Best Young Achiever category  within her organization. After 8 ½ years with the same company, Renee decided to upskill further and moved onto the Domestic Transport / Courier arena in a Key Account Management role, with a portfolio containing high spend accounts. In her free time, Renee loves spending time with her young family, reading, outdoor activities or binge watching the latest Netflix series.

Monique has previously worked in a retail role for the past 3 years. Outside of work, she spends her spare time with her friends, going away to her family bach in Waipu and going to concerts.
